We arrive in Paris

Starting out our adventure in the Delta Sky Club at MSP with our good friends along on this trip, the Lanes:

Our Delta flight from MSP to CDG went flawlessly.  We even found a shortcut through passport control at CDG and our bags were the first, third, fourth and sixth bags on the baggage carousel.  The normally two hour taxi ride into town at that time of day took less than an hour because it is August and the French are on holiday.

Our overnight stay and very welcomed showers at the very clean and convenient Hotel Ellyesee near Gare de Lyon where we catch the train tomorrow to Dijon.

A couple of pictures in the neighborhood.

We strike out later this morning for Notre Dame to find huge crowds and L O N G lines.  Unbelievable.

So we switch over to the nearby Sainte Chappelle to find shorter but still daunting lines.

We decide to wait for a Paris museum pass next week which will enable line skipping.  (The museum pass is for consecutive multi-days only and we're here only today this week.)

Instead we find a sidewalk cafe in the Latin Quarter for lunch.

We visit the very busy and famous Shakespeare & Company book store.

And instead of standing in line all day, we hop on the open top, hop on, hop off, tour bus.

After which we were definitely in need of a beverage stop at another sidewalk Cafe.

After sprucing up back at the hotel, we decide not to have dinner at the Cafe about a half a block from our hotel

and instead opt to eat at what must be an "unpopular" Cafe just slightly farther away.

Great having dinner at a sidewalk Cafe in Paris with my bride and good friends.

Now it is off to bed for me after being up for 33 hours with just a few hours sleep on the plane.
I'm surprised that I have made it past 10pm this evening.
