Saturday, May 20: Budapest and Prague: Capital Cities and Jewels of Central Europe

The blog is active again as we begin our next adventure.  We are headed to Budapest and Prague. In December we took our first Road Scholar tour to Christmas markets in Europe and had a great time.  So we are excited to begin our second Road Scholar adventure, this time learning about the architecture, music, history and politics of two great cities while touring beautiful sites.  We found our first Road Scholar combination of education with expert guidance in a small group a wonderful experience and we are expecting no less on this trip.

Tonight, hopefully, we take a Delta flight from Minneapolis to Amsterdam and connect with KLM on to Budapest.  Our itinerary:
(Although the map shows a driving route, we are flying from Prague to Amsterdam)

  • Six nights in Budapest (five with Road Scholar)
  • Five nights in Prague (all with Road Scholar)
  • Two nights in Amsterdam (independently)

We are going one day early as an insurance should our transatlantic flight not go as planned.  We expect to arrive on Sunday and will join our Road Scholar tour on Monday.

We are adding a couple of nights in Amsterdam on the return.  In order to get from Prague to Amsterdam to catch our Delta flight back to Minneapolis, we would need to arise in the middle of the night.  We have chosen to have a leisurely departure from Prague and have a day in Amsterdam before again having a relatively leisurely time getting our Delta flight out of Amsterdam.

See you on the other side of the pond.
