Route / Plan

Here is the plan for Sweden so you can follow along and see if it works out as planned.

We fly to Goteborg, Sweden on Tuesday evening/Wednesday, taking American to Chicago and SAS from Chicago to Goteborg with a change in Copenhagen.  We will spend a day exploring Goteborg sans car.

We pick up the car on Friday and will then do a tour of small towns in southern Sweden.  Stops are:
  • Fjallbacka, along the west coast
  • Hestra, the only stopover in the middle, near a moose park
  • Kalmar, on the east coast near the Swedish "kingdom of crystal"
  • Ystad, on the bottom near "Ale's Stones"
  • Hoganas, resort town north of Malmo & Helsingborg
Then we drop the car back in Goteborg on Wednesday a week later and fly home reversing the route over.  Hopefully, the car will follow by ship arriving sometime between Halloween and Thanksgiving.

That's it.  It's pretty simple and laid back.  It's intended to avoid large cities and keep to rural areas and small towns once we have the car.

Expected route:
