Day Four: to Wichita Falls, Texas

I asked the person at the front desk of the hotel yesterday where to run this morning.  I was instructed to run to a park just north of downtown and given a map.  It turns out that it was all of half a mile to the park!  He wasn't much of a runner himself.  Luckily I had memorized the map which indicated a trail along the river so I got in my 3.7 mile run in 72 degree heat at 7AM.  A view of the river along the running path:
After kicking back in the hotel room this morning after breakfast on the outdoor patio on the 16th floor,
we toured of the Price Tower, the Frank Lloyd Wright highrise building that houses our hotel.  The building was built as a combination office tower and residential units.  We toured the 17th, 18th & 19th floors containing the original building owner's two floor apartment and the executive offices of the owner's company.  No photography was allowed.  Well worth the visit.

We also don't have a picture but two of the cast members of last night's West Side Story Broadway touring company stayed in our hotel and were walking around the hotel this morning.  Interesting seeing them out of costume the day after.

After lunch at Frank & Lola's Neighborhood Restaurant, we headed out for Texas choosing a route that will take us well west of Dallas/Forth Worth, avoiding the congestion of that area and coming into Texas hill country directly from the north.

On the way, we stopped at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City
where we toured the outside sculpture garden with Buffalo Bill

and regular Bill
and Beverly found more spring.
Bill had a drink in the (fake) western saloon
and got thrown into (fake) jail.
We end the day in Wichita Falls, Texas having made it to the Lone Star state.  After eating Mexican cuisine for dinner, we made to the hotel room and turned the TV on to get to watch the last 30 seconds of Minnesota's victory over SMU in the NIT championship game.  Go Gophers!

We overnight tonight at a Hampton Inn in Wichita Falls with about four and a half hours driving tomorrow to Texas hill country where we will stay both Friday & Saturday nights.  And, no, we don't have reservations.  We have a pretty definite destination tomorrow but no chosen place to stay as yet.
