Monday, August 20, 2018: Across the pond, Introduction to Copenhagen

Fresh as daisies as we begin our flight from Minneapolis to Amsterdam.  Now, after 31 hours mostly awake, we don't look, nor feel, so fresh.  Still, it was a successful flight.  I managed almost three hours of sleep.  We made our connection to Copenhagen and our luggage arrived.
We are greeted at Kastrup airport by our National Geographic driver
who takes us to our hotel.  Our room looks out over the Radhus Plaza and City Hall
and the edge of Tivoli and the other side.
We are told that one of the must things to do in Copenhagen is to get a hot dog from a street vendor.  Maybe it is a NYC kind of thing.  So we hop right to it.
Bill goes for boring.
While Beverly gets into the local flavor.
We walk the length of the main pedestrian shopping street, Stroget,
to picturesque Nyhavn
where it seems like a good time to rest our feet, have a glass of wine and, of course, ... a danish.
To help keep ourselves awake, we stroll through the botanical gardens
and watch the changing of the Danish guard at Rosenberg Castle.
We are tired.  We head back to the hotel, have dinner and expect to be in bed early this evening.  On our way back we encounter the below family which seemed to be remarkably colorful.
Tomorrow: a real day in Copenhagen.  Goodnight.
